Our team opened volunteer registration on April 1st and we already have 372 volunteers signed up to help! This is our 5th annual Evening of Dreams prom and the excitement continues to grow. When registering as a volunteer we asked why they want to help and here is how some of them responded:
~ I have volunteered as a date the past two years and it is absolutely my favorite event of the year! I am making sure that I get home from college the day before so that I can make it to this very special event!
~ I was a male date last year and it was one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences of my life.
~I have a recently new step brother who has cerebral palsy and it has been a life changing experience getting to know him as a person. I have a new respect for families that handle such disabilities. I love putting a smile on my stepbrothers face and I want to do that for other kids who deserve to have a smile too, no matter their age or mental capacity. My step brother is one of the most inspiring people in my life because he perseveres through everything and stories like his make me want to give back to the community in such a way that I can make these kids the happiest kids on earth.
~ I volunteered last year and had a fabulous experience. It was a pleasure to spend my night with Anthony. We had so much fun and his happiness from the experience made me happy myself. I loved being able to be a part of something that allows other people the opportunity to feel handsome/beautiful and have so much fun for a night.
~ This will be my forth year. I enjoy watching my brother and his friends have safe environment to have a prom. What your organization has done has a special place in my heart. I will continue to volunteer every year.
~ I want to provide the best prom experience for someone and have a great night getting to know someone new who I can hopefully have a positive impact on. I have family members who never had experiences like this in high school due to disabilities so it hits close to home.
~ I want to volunteer at the evening of dreams because I believe it’s a great way to give back to the community. I also think it’s a great way to give someone with special needs the same opportunity that I have to go to prom and have a fantastic time!
~ My older sister has special needs and has attended Evening of Dreams before, once I found out that I was old enough to volunteer, I knew how happy it would make her, so now I’m doing it.
~Our entire Varsity football team is volunteering as a group to help support this event.
~I go to almost all my school dances with my friends. It’s fun to get dressed up and dance and just be with friends. Everyone should be able to have that experience at school.
